Great work. Thanks for sharing. I've been trying to find these objects in the sky for years without success. Finally, I get to see them. Thanks, I needed that.

Great capture. No, I never shot anything in IR. Years ago, when I took some astronomy classes, I had always wanted to buy a small telescope and an equatorial mount for my Nikon (taking rolls of film) to take time exposures of nearby planets and nebulae. The seeing around Phoenix has since deteriorated with all the construction in the last 20 years. I remember about 15-20 years ago we had a comet (forgot the name) come close to the Earth orbit. In Mesa (eastern end of the Valley of the Sun, i.e. Phoenix) one could barely see it. But in Northern Arizona (west of Prescott near the Baca Grant) where nobody lived, this comet was crystal clear and could be nicely seen just with a pair of binoculars!

Fabulous image! M82 is a favourite of mine; it suits my house aspect and light pollution. I think I could image it quite well with my 180mm Mak-Cass if I had better guiding. I managed to get a couple of 3 minute subs of Caldwell 31 - before the cloud rolled in last night - with my new Skywatcher 80mm refractor; I was soooooo happy to get 180 seconds unguided without star trails that I completely failed to notice that... well, C31 didn't seem to be there!!!! I could seriously go OFF this hobby!!!!
