Description

This is the crown of a Sago palm, in Veterans Park, Delray Beach, Florida. In the center is the female reproductive structure (thanks to Wikipedia). This very symmetrical plant supports a crown of shiny, dark green leaves on a thick shaggy trunk that is typically about 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter. It can grow to about 20 feet (6–7 meters) tall but that takes 50 to 100 years. This one was about 7 feet (2.1) meters tall and this was an over my head blind shot while standing on a park bench. The Cycad Sago Palm is extremely poisonous to animals (this includes humans) if ingested. Some info from Wikipedia. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. I've never had a hankering to get a Sago Palm...they seem to have so many problems. Nice shot of this attractive and very healthy one.

Great POV of this wonderful plant I have two small ones growing in pots, the Latin name is Cycas revoluta, they are easy to grow but don't like root disturbance.
