UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh, for a nice walk in this forest! And feel a slight cool breeze. I checked the links you provided. Very interesting. Nice to see that there are a LOT of reserves in the US, more than I thought! However, I suspect the world lists on the second site are not comprehensive. Looking for Sweden, I found nothing, yet I know there are some areas preserved. However, the question is also if these live up to the definition for an old growth forest. Considering how populated Europe is, and for so long, I'm surprised there would be any old growth forest left there. A LOT of forest was cut down during the cold period 1400 - 1700 for fuel (heating homes, primarily). Keep up the good work! :-)

I like this shot, it relaxes me just looking at the trees and green on the ground.

Excellent shot bill, great POV, and the light is gorgeous.

Just beautiful! It looks like a place that would nice to explore, but then again you wouldn't want to disturbe anything! This really looks like a place that you would find some elves or fairies!! I will have to see if New Hampshire has any old growth forests. I know that back in history all of the large trees were designated as property of the king for the masts of the English ships, so a lot of beautiful trees that were around ended up as ship masts....

Oh, to spend some time here... This is just so gorgeous, Bill! I'll have to take a look at that link and see what's 'old growth' in Missouri. Probably the Ozarks - although that region is so overdeveloped any more...

Oh, I love an old growth forest. There aren't as many as you'd think there are...and even the Black Forest is sorta gray now...not very black...it's a lot of newer growth: upstart, snitty trees that think they're "real" trees. But anyway, enough of that! This is such a calm and restful shot. I love the green carpet. I can just imagine the wealth of insect thingies that live there and well...THAT intrigues and tickles me to no end. This is stunning!

A beautiful capture of this old forest. Yes we do have some still down here but it gets less and less worse luck.

This is so very lush, enchanting, and shady I bet I could find lots of Jack in the Pulpits there.........lot of woody ferns and other wildflowers as well............. I checked for this site you had info on: P.S. Do you have any old growth forests in your country or state? Click Here. P.S.S. Old Growth wiki that illustrates the six characteristics listed above. I sure did................I didn't think we would have one but we do......... Blanton Forest in Ky...................now just got go and google it and read up on it since I love to read..................no problem with me......... Thank you for sharing this beauty of a pic with us..........and also for providing us great info as well...............and for a way to find out if we had any old growth forest as well.................and lo and behold to my surprise we did...................I thought we wouldn't have any.........I knew of Mammoth Cave and Cumberland Falls.........been to Mammoth Cave lots of time.....took the tours...........wanted to go on the underground water tour but no guide was there for it that day...............My luck of course....and of course I was younger and in better health back then............Oh to be like that now.....just a little blackflash memory there LOL Again thank you for the most beautiful lush shady forest....and the info to go along with it.......plus I found out something I didn't know about our state..so will have to read and check it out.......... You captured a beauty here............... A definite fav with me 10 stars to boot.............as well....** Hugs Susan~
