Description

Around here we call them whistle pigs, hog dogs or ground hogs. If you have ever heard one whistle, you will understand that name! This little one was found by it's dead mom on the road. This happens alot to raccoons and skunks too. The baby will stay there untill it dies because it knows not to leave mom. I always look at this time of year to make sure. As you can see, she is not having and problem eating now. I have to be careful with these. They will become a pet if you give them too much attention.

She's a cute little critter! Excellent photo and it's a wonderful thing you're doing for all these baby wild animals.

Aw, so cute! Yes, they stick to dead mom. I've seen racoon kids do that when we lived in lower Connecticut (they did run around town quite a bit. With so much greenery, they probably had a hard time telling country from town). You mean you have to be careful with ground hogs or they become so attached to a human so they become pets? Surprise to me! I thought they were aloof. Judging from the feeding syringe, this fellow seems very small. How small is he? And how big do they get? Keep up the good work! :-)

awwww...it must be hard to be able to keep your distance and not spoil them too much. I really, really applaud your work. I'm the kind that gets so attached to animals I'm afraid that I would lose my perspective of returning these guys to the wild.
