I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Oooh! I love all of the rectangles and colors and jiggly excitement in this shot. Thresholds are endlessly fascinating for me, whether they're doors or gates and here you've got two of em....a door in that inviting and eye-grabbing shade of green, and a gate with nice curvy details going on in bits. The whole image just pops with colors and life and that's never a bad thing. This is wonderful and I love the boldness of the designs, especially the black and white quasi-checkerboard inlays. This is really super. What a find!

This puts a smile on every-body's face! - methinks ? and speaking from a decorators point of view, you would never put the turquoise and that green together - it's a no-no! - but it works, because it is balanced out again by the black and white. It has happy written all over it, I am sure Tara will really appreciate this, because it is so different ... I wish there were more people around, to have the courage and express themselves so vividly, a marvellous find ... BB

Oooooohh! Dis mooi baie, Dierbaar. Dankie! Jy is goed. :) I love the colors against that white wall. So inviting, and such marvellous detail. I would love to have a friend who lived behind that door. It would make me happy to visit her every time I stopped by! A million thanks, Hun. An outstanding shot, and I love it that you thought of me. >:D<

This is really weird, so well you noticed this situation, dear Carin. Bright green, and the special mosaic pillars, plus on the flour, GREAT :).

Carin, there are galleries on this site that I adore but I don't get to nearly enough. I leave long comments and they take me forever, and so I have such trouble getting to everyone, I sometimes take months before I get to everyone I want to. (And recently I've had work done on my hands so I've been absent several weeks at a time in the last number of months.) Anyway, I'm back for a couple of images per gallery right now, and I had to do at least a few of yours, as I see your images all the time and adore your gallery. This is splendid. It has 'tara' written over it, because of how you captured an intimate off-the-beaten-path world and made it a world unto itself. The greens are so bold, but your treatment of the image has a softness that makes the boldness 'caress' as well as speak. And the multi-patterned stones in the posts on either side of the door, plus your non-symmetric composition (in a composition that would normally call out for symmetry, because of the natural framing of the door) is a wonderful diversion: The green brickwork on the left changes everything. It's gorgeous; the textures, though subtle, are wonderfully lived-in; and the hues and simple designs are very eloquent. You're a wonderful photographer, and this was a wonderful gift for tara.
