Description

Good evening! Once again the Zwinger of Dresden. "Zwinger" in german means the space or the room between the outer and inner walls of a castle (or a city), mostly near the heavy armed entrance. This was the place were the enemy could be attacked from both sides, when he was able to break through the caste`s entrance before... The Zwinger here in Dresden was placed where once the old mediveal city walls were situated. The plans for the Zwinger reached back till 1500 and something. They were part of a deep discussion: Should we tear down our city wall for THIS? Defending capacities or amusement? The military experts should shake their heads, they tell us... Friends, thanks for your countless and friendly comments and a great salute for the comrade who took my last pic as her/his favorite. Your comments are always apreciated. Hope you like this detail pic here, too. Goodnite, billcody

The elements have taken their till on this face and maybe a souvenir hunter has chipped off a piece. A shame!!!
