I haven't been here since March - what did I miss? anybody got some news? I'm still Jobless, imagine that with this great world wide economy we have going - lol.... I haven't been around, but thought I'd post some pictures I've worked on the last couple weeks. DiviantART had a Barnabas Collins contest - I loved the old show when I was in grade school. Johnny Depp has the lead in the new movie released on May 11th.... anyway, I had to do all this homework gathering pictures for reference before I got started... right before, like hours before I started, I found out that the Original Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) had just passed - so it really felt weird to work on this art... the first few I did, I felt sluggish, kinda uninspired.... by the time I did my last one, I felt I had created a piece I will always be happy with..... The contest had thousands of entrees and 1st, 2nd and 3rd all recieved thousands of dollars - but the neat thing was is that DiviantART was to pick 10 that they thought were the best and TIM BURTON would pick the top 3.... Needless to say I wanted to be able to hang a piece of my art in my house that said Tim Burton picked this.... well, none of my pieces were picked for the top 10.... My last image which I'll post in a few days I put Tim Burton in the scene - that was my favorite one
anyway, I hope you're all do'n good, I plan on posting for the next few days and then I need to go back to what I was doing.... so what's been happen'n???

Fantastic tribute to the Dark Shadows dude. I never missed an episode when I was a kid...scared the hell out of me. Happy Birthday Mike!!!

Fabulous image and tribute. Really great work on this. I have a friend who is a HUGE Dark Shadows fan. When it was rebroadcast some years ago, he recorded all the episodes on VHS. Yes, SOME years ago. I haven't gotten his reaction on the new Barnabas yet, but he didn't like Tim Burton's Michael Keaton Batman, so I have a feeling he's not gonna like this either. On the other hand, from the trailer I saw, I might be a fan of the updated version with Depp. Time will tell.

Dang, it's good to see a post from you, Mike! Really miss your artwork and your humor, my friend! It's far too quiet around here when you're gone.. And this, my friend, is one of your best yet! I'm amazed it didn't place! I sure hope you find something soon - it's not easy in this economy... I tend to b**ch about my job, but it pays well, and has good benefits, so I stick with it. Really - someone should hire you to do art for a paper or a TV station. What's happening - it's been a bit depressing and super-busy here.. Mom-in-law passed away at the beginning of Feb. We've been busy with getting the house ready to sell since then. It looks like we have a buyer; just a matter of getting all the paperwork in order, now. Hope to have a little more free time, soon. I've been trying to learn a buttload of new software; Vue 10, Hexagon, Bryce 7, Blender, DS4 Pro... making progress slowly... Hope you get something soon - stay in touch, Bro! You're missed...

oh wow! Mike this is awesome .. you really do rock at this stuff. You shoulda won .. sometimes I think it's all politics at these sites, if you know the right people, etc., then you stand a chance. You should be winning stuff left and right because you DO have the talent AND imagination, and I don't see why you aren't winning. Gotta go make a b-day thing for you, lost my whole list and thought I'd gotten it all together again .. and I'm still missing people. Haven't been around much either, and doggone it i was so sure you'd have found a decent job. Sigh. Hang in there kiddo, there has to be something good out there, just waiting for you. Hope your b-day was awesome .. and the year ahead brings a good job quickly, and good luck, and in fact, everything good!

I think this a great one. Sorry you did not wing anything. I rarely go over to that site and only have one friend there. The site confused me and me being a simpleton I do not go there that often. I know it has some really really good artist there. Lot of big fish there and me being a small fish would likely get eaten. I see you as a Spiny Puffer Fish so you should be OK there. I am saddened to hear you have yet to find a job. The government say unenployment is down, but i think they are just cooking the books because it is election time.
