Description

First off, have been gearing up for a boy scout fishing trip this weekend, (leaving as soon as this posts), so I'll be commenting after the weekend. Secondly; I've used the term, "this is not a beauty shot", on more than one occasion, and should clarify what I mean by that. Some images I use as reference to remind myself of the day or surrounding terrain. Am always keeping a diligent eye for future hikes, one example being the possible cave seen higher in the foothills. This is a unique area and all images are beautiful as a result, but some are taken as purely reference images. I just loved taking a DSLR into this area. In the past having a Nikon 2020 35mm, was limiting with the C-41 rolls of film. The initial cost and development wasn't cheap, but it was the limited amount of pictures that left me saying to myself, "no don't shoot that, there may be something better round the corner". Always fearing that great image coming and not having enough film, left me second guessing what to image...ughh! Well those days are over! Now if I only knew about stitching images at the time...LOL! I just can not present the immensity of this in a single shot. You can just see the moat starting on the opposite side of the teepee, and on this side I still could not frame the moat completely. A pity since natures sculptured symmetry impressed me so! Still I like the image, there are lots of textures and colors. The scrub brush seems to magically spring from the sandstone and the "Moqui marble" material mixed with the sandstone adds some nice contrast. Will talk more of the iron concretion that makes "Moqui marbles" on the next post of this series. A great weekend to all! To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed the last image below. thumb_2323112.jpg

Had to save at the lowest quality again to make Rendo requirements, many enjoyed the full view of the last image so I won't discourage doing so. :~)

These formations are incredible & you've captured them in exquisite detail (that requires a zoom to really appreciate). Outstanding...

I remember the 'no don't shoot that, there may be something better round the corner' well! It came back to me just a few days ago when I too took the school class camping. They brought along disposable film cameras and I kept finding myself saying 'Don't waste shots on that, we still have much more to see'!!!!!!!!!
