Description

From the East Promenade. The Imax, the second most hated building in the UK, is at last to be demolished. When seen from here, it looks fine, even attractive, BUT it is not from here that most folk view it, but from behind, where it looks like a warehouse and blocks the view of the Purbecks across the bay. The beach is anyhow a VERY stupid place to put a cinema.

Bigger and better as the old dies out as they say maybe they will replace it with something good.

The roof line looks like waves. That is a cool thing for a building at the beach, but yes it is terribly unfortunate if it is actually blocking a nice view.

Putting anything big at a beach is silly, the beach is the attraction! All that's required are some food vendors and toilet conveniences. Will those lovely arches be removed too?

Terrific clarity and repetition in this pic of the eyesore, Andrea. But, hey, its first name is Harry, so it can't be all bad.

Terrible waste of resources, first to build the darn thing, then to spend more to carry it all away to clutter up some storage area for the next thousand years. Anyway, I am happy for you that you will get your beach back!

The wavy roof does look good from this POV, silly place to put it. I see that you have 'trolley people' there too - parked under the arch on the left. Clive

Nice to hear it is coming down so that the sea view and beach area can be exposed. Interesting information, thanks for sharing Andrea.

I see what you mean, about the IMAX building, and it's placement but I like the arches under the boardwalk although there may be a homeless person living over on the left?
