Description

Saturn Spaceship USS Achilles VASIMR Nuclear engine (5 views) These are the first 5 views that I will be posting of my latest spaceship design (engine section only) for an interplanetary mission to the 2nd of the gas giants that lies within our Solar System, Saturn. The model was created and design by me using the Boolean objects that comes with Bryce 5.5 and Bryce 7.1. The basic information for the actual design of the VASIMR rocket engine was obtained from NASA and the Ad Astra Rocket Company. The 5 views of the nuclear engine and support structure are prototype and can be subject to change as new information is obtained and elements are added or removed to the layout of this section of the ship. In the next few months you will see what all the parts are supposed to do as I hope to show the engine section in various stages of operation. As I stated in my last picture posted, if you would like to see more detailed views of the VASIMR engine as design by me, please visit my website http://www.bambam131.com and check under the header USS Achilles. You will find over 50 pictures posted dealing with the design of this engine section. Thanks again to everyone that have commented on my work as it is much appreciated. Cheers, David

Very cool, David. I've been working on a sci-fi script that includes the Vasimr engine in the storyline. Pretty impressive technology. It could really open up the possibilities of deep space exploration.

Reminds me of a ship called Project Daedalus. Very plausible design.

zooming brings out a lot of detail, gives more of a feel to the whole system. the size (compared to the late and lamented Space Shuttle) gives a compact feel, usable,doable... maybe in a few years time? serious, major league Wow!

Magnificent work David. Once again your work succeeds stunningly -- not only in composition and design but in sophistication of construction, and dedication to excellence and accuracy. Bravo!

Always good to have an impressive new rocket design. Unlike most I see, yours look like they could realistically do the job you design them to do. Does NASA pay any attention to your work?
