I sure remember 1968 - my, that was a BAD one! With the Peace and Freedom Party people being anything but peaceful, and denying others their freedoms. Weirdest of all was, their delegates were in the same hotel the other democrat delegates were in, and were thus also "under siege", yet they filled bottles with urine and faeces which they then thow down on the police who were PROTECTING them from the other Peace and Freedom Party rioters! Speak of hypocrisy! Considering it's 42 years since, perhaps it's "We kicked your grand-dad's ass, now it's your turn". Go for it! "Give 'em the spanking their parents never gave them!" (quotation from 1968). :-)

Least said, easier mended, but from Scotland we see things much differently. I have studied American Politics and History for forty years and have observed its corruption and decline. I've tried several times to put my thoughts on paper but I have no 'one size fits all' solution like the politicians so I'll just pray for all in once great America. May you wake up and work together. May you desert the merchants of fear, greed and division. May you take responsibility for your decisions at home and throughout the world. God bless all - John.

John: Thanks for your note, that's quite lovely. Thank you for taking the time to post and share your observations. It's most appreciated. We do seem to friction and fracture and have ourselves a good punch up now and again. But worry not. At the end of the day we do realize we're all in this together. We have a knockabout with our brothers like it is in so many families, but when the family itself is attacked we come together. I do want to make one point. As I look out upon the vast media sea, I witness a lot of support for particular points of view. I don't see a lot of support for the police who work damn hard, in harm's way to do by and large the right thing. These people have families too. They're concerned as well. And they've taken upon themselves a mighty task... to protect people and property. So I think it's OK to pump them up a little and to let folks know that if you come in peace, you'll get peace, if you come to destroy, you're going to meet resistance. This is a point of view I think the Scotts can appreciate. Certainly you are aware that the Chicago Police sport Sillitoe Tartan on their hat bands.

P.S.: The rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated.
