Description

This was fun but challenging. I really worked at getting a painterly feel to the image, without resorting overmuch to filters. It helps that the stock is very inspiring, and after a few texture overlays I was on a roll. The model is from Evil_Kittie at DA and is deliciously creepy. I painted over the image a lot to get the mood I wanted. Thanks for looking!

Nicely brooding and I love the rich, almost decadent colors. I especially like the fact that this seems more painted than rendered (that bit of cross-medium playfulness has always drawn me.) This has a distinct mood and a wonderful sense of sinister longing. Ah, but that's what the vampire is: something forbidden, associated not only with the blood it must consume, but the passions associated with that blood. All-in-all, this is quite an evocative piece of work. Oh, and based on the color of the blood on the vampire's hand, I'd tell her not to go for the jugular vein! Go for the aorta, next time: the blood's nicely oxygenated there.
