Description
"We call it the Dragons run. Anyone with a decent sled can do it. First they thread the high lands gorges at a hundred and fifty kilometre an hour without bouncing off the sides. Easier than it sounds. Ten meters is the average width, on the good section. Most places you can't pass without killing either yourself or the other sled jockey. Grim tiding, but once on the skirt of crater lake most open up the throttle hitting three twenty on a still day.
It has to a full three sixty around the base. So the one and a half minutes out to tail is spent just over five meter off the surface of the water hoping you don't hit anything larger than a fly. It's like you're in a tunnel, and all peripheral vision is a blur. If you want to survive you look straight ahead. Look down, up, you loose focus and all you see is the dun brown blur of your death as you drift off coarse. A down draft finally slams you into the water, turn you to bag pulp, fish food.
You have to get into a shallow twenty two kilometre long arc on the right. Go too wide for the safest set up for clockwise loop around the base of the tail and someone doing a shallow run'll leave you with a wall of spray to hit at three twenty plus. Not pleasant, potentially fatal. If you make your arc too shallow, take turn around the base wrong you have to take a fatter arc on the other side to do the full circuit or be disqualified at the finish line.
As you spiral round the tail gaining elevation so when you slip the tail you slam into one of the slower sleds just entering their own revolution. So how do you win the dragons run? Answer is you don't. You the fastest surviver..."
Decided to redo the planet and atmosphere almost from scratch. The starfield and nebula is Mahnmut's Fractal Starfield from planetside forums, and it is beautiful. Still have to get some time to play in blender for the space elevators, but that's later.
dReaM in the pLaCe "Where The Wild Things Are", and you will underStanD...;)
p.s. I will tinker with the lake surface I think.

Fantastic image! Great terrain and lighting. Better in full view. :-) Corrie

Like the color and shadows, the reflexion off the water is distracting

Too true Danny. There's a different version without the nebula, but apart from the reflections I prefer this one...;)
