Description
Have not posted a photo recently, so just wanted to keep current. These cranes are relics left over from WWII. Mare Island was a naval base back in the 1940's. On the Mare Island golf course - the oldest in California - machine gun bunkers still can be seen. They were built to repel the Japanese invasion.

Superb shot. Great work. I was stationed at Mare Island in the mid 70's and remember these cranes well.

This is absolutely amazing and quite inspiring; I love the potential of digital photography, or at least the potential for editing software that allows you to take an already great photo and push the envelop a little bit more, as you've done so perfectly here. This is amazingly gorgeous and incredibly evocative of many different and even conflicting things. I love this!
