Description

I believe this is a Male Allen's Hummingbird (if you know better than I please share!). I have a lot of these guys (and girls) showing up in my yard at the feeders. I also have an ugly faded brown fence all around the backyard so I have been looking for POVs that will eliminate that in the photos. I just had to lean down a bit more and shoot upwards. Waahlah, no ugly fence! Loved the fact this was quite a different pose on the birds body than how they look while feeding. The spread tail feathers are particularly interesting to me. In fact, if I remember correctly this was just after a taste of food before he flew off. The settings are (I don't think the EXIF will be there since I had to use Neat Image trial version to reduce some noise and it erases it); Manual mode and Manual Focus; 400 ISO, 1/1250 shutter and f/7.1 with the Canon 70-300mm. Thanks for looking and all your kind comments. -Bruce PS ZOOM of course is a larger view!

Fantastic capture Bruce. I have been trying to capture them, but I am always too slow or out of focus!

Awesome result for a manual focused shot. Thanks for sharing the exif-informations. If your software cuts the EXIF away you can use exiftool to copy the original exif-data from one shot to another by using this commandline: exiftool -TagsFromFile original.crw copy.jpg Hope this will help you.
