Inside the Grays Harbor Lighthouse in Westport, Washington.
This is a shot I've wanted for a long time, but it's never worked out before. The inside of lighthouses are not the best lit places!
135 steps to the top. Are you wondering if we climbed up there? LOL! Of course we did! :)
If you've never gone to the top of a lighthouse, it isn't as daunting a climb as you might think. There's a flight of stairs and then a landing, then more stairs and another landing, and so on up to the top. At each landing there are photographs and bits of historical information, and the tour invariably stops while the lighthouse docent talks about whatever display is there. Believe me ... those docents don't want to climb to the top non-stop any more than you do! :)

Great POV. And the light is just right...like the way it illuminates the handrailings and balusters all the way up. After visiting how many lighthouses? Ten maybe? This photo worked superbly for you...:*

That's a delightful shot, Tara! I'll have to admit it makes me tired just thinking about those stairs, but I'd be the first one to head for the top - and the view... :-D

Great capture Tara and I like your cemmentary. Come to think of it, that's the way I climb up a lighthouse. Pretend to be interested in the photos at each landing, and they usually are interesting!

I also wonder if this is what it looks like inside of a comfy snail shell. This is really nicely intense. It is vertiginous, but in the best possible ways, and needless to say, I absolutely love it. I'm also really happy that I got to use the word "vertiginous"...I've been waiting all week for that one!
