Description
Because of my hand, I can't do much original art, so I took an old shot of Chicago trees & tried to make a 'Lynn' image from them. It's just an 'improv' Lynn, but I hope you see some of 'you' in it. The purple part is your heart... I've had the privilege of Lynn's friendship for a few years now, and I can attest what many of you know: She has the soul of a lion and a heart to match, the endurance of a redwood, and the 'call' of her Native American ancestors, ie, deep, beautiful and never-ending. She's graced this site with power-filled visions, her dances to the earth, her love (and rescue) of defenseless animals, and her cry for Sight and Human Justice. And she's had the courage to share her past in the most disarming prose, straight-forward, so moving and so very honest. And she's been a wonderful friend, to boot. Lynn, for all this---even in times of great stress---I say Bless you. And I hope the skies shine big blinding light on you whenever you're in darkness. Happy Birthday friend, Mitakuye Oyasin (Sioux for "All Our Relations"---the celebration of our interconnectedness), and much love from your friend in the windy wilderness of Chicago,

Mark, this is a sensational dedication for Lynn you came up with. Knowing the troubles you are going through now makes it even more special, and the final result here is breathtaking. Your thoughts on Lynn were very moving and so right on the mark as she is all of those things and more. She has faced problems in her life that would leave most of us cowering in the corner, and she has always managed to get back on her feet. Lynn is one of the most thoughtful and kind people I know and deserves a lovely birthday dedi like this one.

Yes, a fabulous opus of inspired art in this stunning birthday dedication for your friend, Mark. A sight similar to what some have said they have experienced after being brought back from being assumed dead.

Dear Mark! I do see some of 'me' in that image, in fact I see alot! How simply wonderful of you to use the branches in that way! The connectiveness is amazing, I see this with my 'native' eyes of course. I see my heart nourishing nature and in turn I see nature protecting, supporting and loving me/my heart. The ancestors are there with their great wisdom to guide and protect. There are tons of animal spirits and for me its as tho there is a totem pole at the center complete with Thunderbird, owl, wolf, bear and more. I spent a long time yesterday just looking at the image and letting the power of the spirit in it wash over me and carry me away into that special connection I share with all things native and earth. And everytime I look at it I see something I missed...I know that sometimes I sound silly when relating things like this because most people can't see what I see but I have to speak the truth as I see it. I love this, I love that you chose an image that speaks 'me' so loud and clear. Thank you so very much Mark, especially since you are dealing with the hand stuff, you needn't have done anything. I know how you feel about our friendship and you are always there for me, your friendship is the greatest gift and I am so honored by you! Its a grand image, Wado!!! Mitakuye Oyasin is truth and is shown here in image and in word. I don't know that I am all you said but I am pleased that you see me that way. Much love to you for this and your constant friendship, wado again (wado is cherokee for thank you) Alex forgets that I have to delete his comment in order to add my own, and commented before I had a chance to so I have added his comment here... by ShadowsNTime on May 14, 2012 9:10:30 am You are a good spirit too, Mark...you've made a world of difference in her life-WADO! alex

A beautiful image for Lynn with a wonderful heart to it and I see that Lynn agrees with me. The branches link with the centerpiece to show a great connectiveness and beauty. Great lighting and colour for a beautiful dedication. I hope your hands are a little better today.

The first thing I saw when I looked at this amazing image, was energy; life giving, pulsing energy. I remembered the documentary made years ago, about the human body, called "The Incredible Machine." But this time it was the mechanics of the Earth I was seeing, rather than a human body. The tree I saw rising up in a glory of light, embodied all the intricate interconnections of our world and I was looking into its heart. I was seeing its energy and motion, as it pulsed out and flowed back. The towering tree trunk shape, the branches reaching out (man, I really love those branches), and the impish face at the top became an incarnation of the entire planet. Inside, the life's blood of the planet coursed; a spring became a river, which flowed to the sea, evaporated and nourished the spring again; animals lived on the richness of the soil, and in death, returned richness to it; the earth died and was reborn with the seasons, always its energy being sent out and coming back again. Glorious image and beautiful dedication for Lynn which is, as Dave wrote, right on the mark. Both are worthy of revisiting again and again. As is Lynn's wonderful and inspiring comment. Most excellent! I hope you are healed soon.
