On Altair-7--a "crystal planet" there are crystals that grow hundreds of meters long. Theses crystals are "harvested" and carved out to form bases hulls for huge star-ships...

Dig the modeling. I think some tweaked and scaled textures could really sell the immensity. For example pick different sections of the ship and give it unique tweaked versions of the main texture so it doesn't look so uniform.
