thanks for your comments, sometimes you just get lucky. some of the lighting effects were a happy accident. the whole image was created and composed in poser pro, then i imported it into vue. most times i get a slightly better render in vue than in poser, i tweaked the rock materials in vue and added the surface water. the character render was unsatisfactory so i kept the background render then used the character render from poser and layered them in photoshop.
