Description

With the four MMS-1 spine sections now held securely in the jaws of the two robotic arms of the Orbital Shuttle Atlantis, the Orbital Shuttle Endeavour makes its appearance on the scene with the Main Engine Section and the Lower Rotational Module of the MMS-1 spacecraft which Endeavour’s crew have detached from its docking location on the Von Braun Spacer Platform. Overseeing this rendezvous in space is the Orbital Shuttle Discovery. Whilst the flight crew and two of Discovery’s four Mission Specialists use Discovery’s robotic arms to move the spine sections, two more of Discovery’s Missions Specialists in spacesuits will perform the spacewalks necessary to ensure that the four spine sections are correctly located in place on the hull of the MMS-1. To be continued next week.
