Description

This started out as a test of the spherical panoramas I'm rendering in Vue, for use in Poser with Bagginsbill's Environment Sphere. It was further inspired by my anticipation of the new series of Doctor Who, due to air in the Autumn. Thanks to SamTherapy for the featured mutant cyborg (shown here in toy form... at least so it would seem) and Becco_UK for the police box. Features Antonia Polygon, Kids 4, Michael 4, Genesis and SA Kitty, also the MilHorse and Songbirds Remix. Those who remember the Fourth Doctor's regeneration into the Fifth may get who/what the M4 based character lurking in the background is meant to be... Largely re-textured the added elements with Bagginsbill derived shaders... (e.g. the Police Box uses the nodes from the BB wet wood bench, from the Car Patio, copied and pasted and plugged into its original texture image maps). Rendered with SSS and Indirect Lighting (plus a specular only light). Needs a lot more work on some of the horses' manes... and a few other tweaks, I think. Will add some gentle depth of field in Photoshop using a ZDepth render too... I'll add some more credits when I post the final version... Many thanks for any critique, comment or suggestions meantime ;-)

I have no idea what's going on here, but maybe that's the point... This is a full-of-details type picture which keeps your eye flicking from place to place, rather than a more direct story-telling. I like the wet flagstones and the tufts of grass. Is one of the horses called Arthur? Are they ALL called Arthur? :) The human skin looks too glossy to me; but given the subject matter, that may be intentional. If so, you should find some way of making it obvious that it's intentional; if not, well, you know... Is that Digital Curlz on Antonia? That's a combination that I'm considering using to make a character I have in mind.

Thanks Crunch01 and EnglishBob :-) Yup, it's another wacky one. I suspect I could be going to get a reputation for that sort of thing... LOL ;-) Yes, I'd agree the skin needs more work... it's definitely toooo glossy at the moment. As you say, because of the environment (it's apparently been raining a bit?) I could try and get away with that... but probably not. Think I just need less specular / fresnel reflection on it (i.e. to turn down those dials in EZSkin). But perhaps using some of BB's water-droplets-on-skin effect, from a thread I found yesterday, could be in order. I could also just be opening a can of worms there though... with having to also make the clothing look slightly rain soaked, etc.? I might just go with the figures being more or less dry ;-) Yes, Antonia is wearing Neftis3d's Digital Curlz. Fits her pretty well with some minor dial spinning! I suspect ALL the horses may be called Arthur... apart from Kevin there.

I love this image. It reminds me of the paintings in The Ultimate Alphabet, where lots of different but thematically linked (aphabetical, in that case) objects and people were placed in a scene. It really does need to be viewed at full size for best effect.

Thanks Sam Yes! I remember The Ultimate Alphabet! This image also kind of reminded me of the book "Masquerade" by Kit Williams. That also had a competition, or rather a treasure hunt, associated with it... back in the early 80s or thereabouts. Oh yeah, forgot to say... the name of the little girl in this image is Dorothy Cowan. More to come on her...
