Description
These two motorcycles are part of the group that will depart Phoenix, Arizona on 17 May 2012 for Las Cruces, New Mexico for the second leg of TRFW, a distance of 404 miles.
The motto for the 'Run for the Wall' ride is "Ride for those who can't". The participants are mostly Vietnam Veterans, but also include people that have not served but are sympathetic to the cause of the veterans, and in this group, three mothers who ride on behalf of their sons. One lost her son in 1991 in the First Gulf War, the second lost her son in Iraq in 2003, and the third lost her son in Afghanistan.
Much of the cost for food, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner and other incidentals is defrayed by donations from local businesses, restaurants, motels/hotels, veteran organizations such VFW posts, motorcycle/automobile dealerships, and retail outlets.
This group is part of more than 500,000 motorcyclists from across the country that will be converging in Washington, D.C. to pay tribute to all veterans on Memorial Day.

Looking at these machines, with engines the size of small cars, with any conceivable gimmick such as GPS, stereo, radio communications, computers and who knows what else, the combined value of the motorcycles meeting in Washington, D.C. must be in the billions of dollars. No wonder local businesses associated with this kind activity are anxious to financially support this effort. It will pay off in the long run.
