Description

This is a White Lady Anthurium. The anthurium is a large genus of about 600 to 800 (possibly 1,000) species, belonging to the arum family (Araceae). Anthurium flowers are small (about 3 mm) and develop crowded in a spike on a fleshy axis, called a spadix, a characteristic of the Araceae. This spadix can take on many forms (club-shaped, tapered, spiraled, and globe-shaped) and colors (white, green, purple, red, pink, or a combination). I found this flower in the Society of the Four Arts Gardens, in Palm Beach, Florida. Some info from Wikipedia. Zoom helps! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

A beautiful capture of this lovely lily. We know this as the 'peace lily' down here and it will only grow in pots as it gets frosted so we only see them indoors.

Glorious specimen Dana! unfortunately I will always associate them with funerals, as my Aunt from Berlin, used to sell them in her garden nursery, on those very sad occasions - maybe that's why they call them Peace Lily, as Nancy pointed that out? still a great image, BB

Lovely shot, and skunk cabbage must be in the same family, since they grow similarly.

Cool shot of a very interesting species, Dana. I believe I posted a red Anthurium with an orange or yellow spadex sometime in the past.
