Creative visual interpretation of a classic song. To me, "wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door" signifies that she puts on makeup to create a false front to the world to hide her despair & loneliness. Why is it "by the door"? To rhyme with "who is it for?", of course...

Very good work one interpretation is that everyone has a 'face' that they present to the world, to their friends, etc.

Great idea and realisation!

Eleanor Rigby subsists on the crumbs of other people's romance and happiness, dreaming that one day she will find love. Rather than go out and make her dreams a reality, she sits in front of the window, looking the part of a romantic heroine, hoping her Prince Charming will see here there and sweep her off her feet. I think when she's home alone with the drapes closed, she probably schleps around in her fuzzy slippers feeling sorry for herself, but whenever she goes out, she puts on the face she wants other people to see. Keeping that face in a jar by the door is the same as keeping your coat and hat on a hook next to the front door. It's part of that liminal space where someone like Eleanor transforms herself from her private self into her public self ... she becomes the person she wants us to think she is. Your image is a perfect representation of the song lyrics, to my mind. What an extraordinary piece ... it's wonderful!

Fantastic work Brigitte!! It could mean that she does not interact with the world, but merely to observe and therefore people can not know her inside, looking only at the outside as shown somewhat exposed in a vitrine.

Damn, auntietk stole my thunder! I was going to say exactly the same thing. That said, an outstanding image, done in a postwork media that I'm unfamiliar with, Brigitte! Love the textures.

I love how you have created this marvellous image and it really suits the song beautifully. I like auntietk's explanation too as the words have always struck me as a bit ambiguous, but I have always liked the song. I do like the lamp too. Very well done.
