Description

Mr. Buck had to go to the vets yesterday as we found a lump on his back, it was sore to the touch (which I was glad about, sounds funny but nasty lumps don't usually hurt.) It turned out to be an absess. He had to stay in & have it drained, he was given a jab that lasts a week, thank goodness as I don't like giving cats pills :o( We brought him home & he was tired but managed to eat :o) I have to bathe the wound with salt water often & make sure there is nothing nasty in it. So far he has been the model patient. I am keeping him in but saying that he hasn't wanted to go out. If he does I will put him in his pen. He is asleep upstairs, the best thing for him. He goes back to see Mike next week. Jasmine would like to help me look after him but I think it best if she doesn't :o) Thanks for all the lovely comments & favs, so, so appreciated. xxx

Oh dear poor Mr Buck I hope that he heals soon those abscess are not nice.. I remember when we had cats and our cats have had them, usually because of a fight they have had when they have been bitten by another cat. Get better soon and be a good patient...

So sorry to hear about what Mr. Buck had to go through Barbara, but glad to know they were able to take care of the problem and that it wasn't anything serious. I'll put him in my prayers for a fast recovery.

Its wonderful to hear it was just an absess. I doubt Mr. Buck is happy with the shave job, but it will grow back quick enough. LOL giving pills to a cat is way way harder than it is with a dog. When we had to give Misty pills, I just got a finger full of peanut butter and hid the pill in it, she would lap it off my finger and never know there was a pill there, but cats are much different, I can hide a tiny pill in fresh tuna and the cats are able to enjoy every bit of the tuna and leave the pill behind. The vet gave us a small tool that looks like a syringe that holds a pill, you put it into her mouth and place the pill far enough in the back of her throat she can't spit it out. luckily our cats are healthy and it has been rare we have had to do this.

Aw, poor Buck! I'm glad it was not more serious. I've given a lot of pills to cats and they are all so different. Whenever I am dealing with a particularly stubborn feline, I think of the James Herriot quote, "Old Herriot may be limited in many respects, but by God he can wrap a cat.” I've resorted to wrapping on occasion, though not with such skill. I hope Buck is quickly healed and all goes well on his next vet visit. He's a beautiful boy, even with his bare butt. Lovely picture!
