I have been into photography for over 40 years, and the pull doesnt lessen. As a family we have always been keen walkers, and that gets you to some interesting places.Ive recently been to Southern India as a member of an adult support team with our local community school to Chennai so the camera never cooled down i can tell you, (watch this space). I live in Chard South Somerset, and have fairly recently converted to digital, at first reluctantly, but now enthusiastically. Its great to hear others comments on your pictures and i am looking forward to loading up my space. Alan. Almost through my first week and inspiration levels have rocketed, thanks for all those comments they drive me on.

painters have made this point about poppies, esp in the last 150 years. Monet, esp van Gogh, and through Georgia O'Keeffe (whose poppy closeups are almost cosmic)---that poppies simply explode in their fields, like big bursts of intense red that may not 'take over' a field, but sure act like the stars of the production. The red here is saturated enough to seem almost painted on. And because you caught the poppies in a row---a curving row, albeit, but a row more than a cluster---it allows us to follow the red back and around, like a string of melody. Your crop is just right for the line of poppies, the bright red is beautiful against all that green, and leaving the sky & house in the upper portion is just the right amount of background---because we're viewing from inside the grasses, as inside an ocean. A beautiful capture of these intense and very 'present' flowers.
