Description

Last fall and the early part of this year (delays due to weather) my couple of acres of woods were timbered out. Many mature trees (75-100 yrs old in a full growth wood) were falling with each storm and taking multiple others with them. A state forester told me it needed to be clear cut as the timber was at maximum growth for the land and that was why so much was falling. Better to cut and let the hardwood seedlings have room to grow as well as get some much needed income. This is one of many pieces of machinery the logger used. It is the workhorse of the operation - pulling the long logs up to the big cutting saw to cut to standard lengths - called a "Skidder". It was so fun to watch!

Neat shot of the old Timberjack Skidder, Deb. Muscle is right with this equipment, and I thought those chains were for snow only, but not so. Anyway, top notch clarity, color and composition in this sterling capture.

Thx! I've remained friends with the timber cutter, he turns my vegetable garden every Spring. =)
