Back to the story - recall that Ramon invited Katherine to dinner out.... They drove a little further into the hills and stopped at an imposing looking building that would have seemed more like someone's chateau, rather than a restaurant. The parking lot full of cars was a giveaway. They were ushered out to a private patio, where there were no other patrons. Over dinner, Ramon told her of the things he and Zuleica had discussed. Zuleica was well aware of all that had been going on with the Jihada's doings. The big mystery with the angels was WHO was Jihada's leader. Some of the information that Lisbet and Jason had tracked down and the Jihada's actions in destroying the plane they were on and trying to make it look like they were responsible for it raised the issue that perhaps Lisbet and Jason had been getting a little too close to finding out who the leader of Jihada was. Unlike other extremist radical groups, this one was very closed mouthed about who called the shots and who had the power. Lisbet was supposed to have interviewed a man named Maliq bin Sabbah, only Maliq never showed up. Days later he was found dead by the watcher assigned to him, face down in a ditch. It appeared he'd been tortured rather mercilessly before they killed him. This pointed to how they knew about Lisbet and Jason's work. "So, that's why he didn't show. He must have finally given in and told them about us," Katherine concluded. "Judging from how he looked - probably," Ramon said soberly. Once Ramon explained all of that to her, she understood why they'd been insistent on making her over and giving her a new identity. As far as she knew, it was all just another lead that had fallen through due to some coincidence. These things did happen all the time in this arena. "So, what's next now that you have my information, and why can you not 'see' who the leader is?" "I can only see what is immediately around me within a given space and time. I can also see very general things thoughout time and space, but not particulars. I uh, exagerrated a bit the other day," he grinned sheepishly. "Star can see particulars sometimes, but not always. Most of us are like me. The only other one who can see like Star is Raq, but also like her, it is a rather hit and miss proposition. We have to depend on actually being present when things happen. Often, we are. If we weren't stuck in the dross of these bodies, that wouldn't be a problem. We've thought that we've seen who it is, but your information points to someone else. We've not decided yet what our next step will be. I needed to talk to you first. Tomorrow, we will meet with Zuleica and Martyn. Martyn is the one who keeps us all in line and runs things in the background. He does our investments and such - handles the business end of things. He has to be present at any meetings where such decisions are made that affect our interactions with humanity, as he is the most detached and level headed of us all.
