Description


This is a shot of the Effigies in Nunney Church in Somerset. The ones on the left are Richard Prater and his wife he bought the manor in 1577 he is wearing armour and his wife is in Elizabethan dress. On the right is Sir John Paulet who died in 1437, and his wife Constance he is in full armour, his surcoat is emblazoned with the De la Mare lions and around his neck is the Lancastrian collar of SS. The chap on the window sill is Sir John de la Mare. he built the castle and died in 1383, he is on the window sill because there was nowhere else to put him.

I like the photo and your description but it is going to drive me crazy that Sir John de la Mare, built the castle and was the first to die (in 1383) and yet he was put on the window sill. LOL
