Description

I wanted to resend this poem since Monday is Memorial Day. I wish to thank all those who fought for our freedom & for the love ones who supported them in their missions. Her Red Dress She put on her new red dress, As she waited for his flight. The love she had been waiting for, Will be flying home tonight. Those last words he had spoke, Now keep running through her head. How he had always thought She looked beautiful wearing red. Though her heart is saddened, He won’t see her new red dress. But she still wants to meet his plane, Knowing she looks her very best. She recalls his words of love, When he left to fight for his country. He ask her if upon his return, They would wed, he was on bended knee. She had said “yes” to his request, Then they shared a goodbye kiss. Her heart now skips a beat, As of his love she does reminisce. She knows she will never wear That beautiful dress she bought of white. They would never get to marry, Somehow to her that just was not right. He is returning home a hero, Who gave his life for his country. As she meets his plane in her red dress, That life they planned will never be. She is so proud of this brave soldier, Who was the man that she still loves. She honors his memory in her red dress, While praying to all mighty God above. Copyright @ M. Doris Fuller This poem I dedicate to the wives, sweethearts, moms, dads, children and other family members of our fallen service people. To me they are heroes but to you they were a special treasure and your lives will never be the same without them. So I, as an American, salute you for your sacrifice for our country’s freedom. May God be with you and see you through your loss. God bless America and may she forever be free.
