Description

4 blocks from home. Dawn. Better Zoomed. * * * Thanks again for all your support. Again, it's greatly appreciated Mark (The light in front is from streetlights behind me: A most difficult time of day to capture...)

I think the light is magical; I love the counterpoint of blues and pinks, with the starpoints of golden-white. Beautiful shot!

Breathtakingly superb composition, my friend, lights and all. I see you've taken to sunrise shots with sharp silhouetting against the distant blue in your last couple of images, Mark.

Zoom is totally worth the trip. Wow. Up close, there are a million angles that jump out. Verticals and horizontals and diagonals, all overlayed with curving, arching tree branches. Nice! This is a study in lines and light, and it's excellent work.

What a beautiful photo this is Mark, it's no wonder you wanted to share this beautiful view with us. You chose the perfect time of day to capture this lovely setting as the lighting really serves to bring it to life. I can't imagine a better way to close out my evening than with a trip to your gallery my friend

This really is a splendid dawn photo and the colours look so rich and promising for the new day. It is a great time of the day to have the city to yourself almost. I always think that those that get up late miss the best time of the day.

This is like a magic city, somewhat surreal and very fantastical with that deep blue sky, dark shadows and stark trees, all contrasted with the warm glow of the lights. A gorgeous capture that is so inviting. CC

Dawn is a magic time of day and you caught that feeling so perfectly here. I love being out then; it's quiet, you have those wonderful moments of complete aloneness. You always capture the essence of your city with these shots.

You were out there at DAWN? Impressive or what! I constantly promise myself I will go to the beach at dawn for the sunrise but it has never happened. This is an image of great intricacy and beauty, and a joy to see.

There is a particularly magical building in this shot; it's either the Westin Hotel itself or the building just behind it. I was never able to actually determine which was which in that case: but the Westin Hotel is one of those markers I always look for whenever I'm within eyeshot of it; I'm within eyeshot of the Westin on a somewhat regular basis, as I work not too far from there; eh, it's a fair walk, but not an impossible one...it's comparable to the walk from the Westin to Reza's...give or take the looming presence of Moody Bible Institute. Anyway, I love this shot! I happen to like the two blue hours that Chicago has every day (provided that they're sunny days) and morning blue hours are somewhat of a rarity for me, since I'm usually asleep when they happen. If I'm awake, I'm probably grumbling and attempting to find ways to slither back into bed. And so having said that, I can appreciate the dedication that would go into a shot like this, and it's such a gorgeous shot! I know roughly where you were standing, and I can feel the mood of the place. People are out and about, already. I can see someone sitting at the bus stop, and there's a sense of both life and expectancy in the air. I love the visual manifestation of that, and your capture is a stunning one. Absolutely gorgeous! The blues and the pinkish golds, or the goldish pinks are such a wonderfully perfect mix of accents. The shadows are nicely stark and alive in their own particular way. This is stunning!
