------------- Crimson Velvet – Aurragyn

“Spellsingers are insidious. You can plug your ears, but you still won’t be safe.” – Cameron Quinn.

As the Crimson Velvet finally reached civilization with a king’s ransom in Frost Giant gold and jewels, they headed straight for the nearest tavern. That civilization was Goblinvale in the northern stretches of the Kingdom of Carellon. The tavern was known for it ribald entertainment and nightly brawls. Seeing a short half elf singing a gentle, soothing tune on an old styled lute was not what the girls had in mind. But rather than starting something, they decided to see how this turned out. The elf was no normal minstrel, but a Bard,… and no ordinary Bard at that, but an Elven Spellsinger. By the time she was done, she’d charmed three quarters of the bar, taken half their gold, and left them in a free-for-all orgy that effectively covered her escape. The next night, the girls tracked her down and got their money back. For her presumption, Jeulae did much the same to her, charmed her and all four had their way with her until sunrise. By the time they were done, they laughed it all off and signed up a fifth member of the Crimson Velvet.

Aurragyn had been born in the tree village of Shallimyra. She’d seen the Silver Gryphon come to the village’s rescue as a child and had survived the demon attacks led by Eris Ashagra. She’d also hidden during the recovery and watched as one of the Silver Gryphon led man after man into her tent. By the time the Silver Gryphon left, she’d already begun to experiment for herself in how to gain magius by draining a man. But life in the elven village soon returned to its boring pre-war peace. That wasn’t what she wanted. So, she packed up her few things and walked the sixty miles south to Goblinvale.

There, she spent the next forty years, learning every trade she could, but becoming expert in singing and playing the lute. It wasn’t until the famous Savannah Montgomery passed through town that she began to follow the path of the Spellsinger. She learned to bury her spells inside her songs, or better even, hidden within the tones of a lute’s strings. In time, she even managed to gain the ultimate power of the Spellsinger, making nearly anything happen she so desired, if her song was good enough. Unfortunately, with something so akin to chaos magic, the results of the song’s magic are not always what the spellsinger wants.
