The picture is loosely based on the worlds of genial Russian SF writers - brothers Strugatskie. Progressors are special secret agents who are sent from Earth to impose progress on stagnant planets (feudal, in most cases). After several progressor operations on various planets the progressor missions were abandoned because of moral issues. Here, the progressor girl is probably French and homesick. In modern history, as an example, the progressor missions of imposing the communist regime were carried out by the leaders of the Soviet Union. And - the total failure of them in the end. Nowadays the progressor activity, in particular, is being performed by the USA administration and other developed countries. And the results we all know.. In other words - do we (Americans, Europeans, in short - westerners) have a right to impose our doubtful democracy virtues on other nations (Near-Eastern in particular).
