Description

a few renders of a scale solar system model i have made (sun is 1km diameter, all other planets and orbits scaled to suit) : ) pluto (the little spec in the bottom right) is 1.63 metres diameter and 4248150.01 metres from the sun.....

Some kid in school would love this for a science project! Don't let them steal your sun, your moon... uranus! :-D

This is absolutely incredible, not only for the sheer magnitude but also for the amazing accuracy that you have put into this. Amazing!!!

i think the last thing is wrong. in your scale, the pluto should be in a middle distance to the sun of 8 492 270m. But i'm not a spacewatcher an i could be also wrong The idea is cool!

daltonmonaie. : ) yeah you are wrong : ) pluto is the farthest body in our solar system with a real life orbit (not scaled like mine) of 5913000000km from the sun (my sun is 1km diameter (actual is 1391900km) so my scale is 1 to 1391900 multiply 4248150.01 by 1391900 and you get 5913000000km .... earth and mars are the mid orbit planets , then theres a vast space then an asteroid belt then jupiter (all planets are in order in the pic from top left......

Veru cool, as a "spacefreak" plutos orbit is a bit odd compared to other planets, I am unsure, but I belive it actually peaks inside the last outer at times, need to check my old books to see. Cool pic though, Have you made an anim with the camera sweeping out from sun to pluto?

lol no i havn't made an anim....... as this is to scale of 1 to 1391900 i would need billions of frames of animation to do a sweeping anim from the sun to pluto and yeah as you say pluto is on a very excentric orbit (there's some question as to wether it should be classed as a planet at all) but thats for the scientists to decide.... they don't actually orbit in my model and all planets are lined up using the average orbit distances.... so it's not 100% accurate but close enough give or take a few million kilometres... : ) but that's just peanuts in space..

love the textures and the way that you have rendered each planet with the exactness of thought as to their possition to the sun.. :o)
