Description

This is the famous Chapman's Peak Drive in Cape Town, South Africa. It has been closed for a couple of years while the authorities worked feverishly to make the road safe. They had huge problems with rockfalls, so a lot of work had to be done. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality and extend of the work done and the fact that, as far as possible, they made all the safety features blend in with the mountains and nature! I have just been through a whirlwind, week long tour through my lovely country (for work) and managed to have a few hours R&R in the gorgeous Cape Town. The weather also played nicely and I managed to get quite a few good shots. Thank you for visiting and for your very welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Just Beads". Carin xx

Now I want to go back there again Carin. I heard that it was closed recently with the rain that they had in Cape Town. In December it was open to drive through and it is a sight to see for the eye. We also had fantastic weather in cape town during our short stay there. Amazing capture Carin. God Bless.

A beautiful seascape - love the deep blue color. Reminds me of parts of the California coast (Devil's Slide is one well known one), where the roads also are prone to rock slides & frequent closures...

Beautiful indeed! It reminds me of Highway 1 on the long California coast; same kinds of problems with erosion of the road, with spots being closed for repair for long periods of time, but the same kind of breathtaking view of the ocean.

Amazing colors in the water and beautiful contrast with the orange earth. Love the stunning geological uncomformaty showing up so clear - a textbook example.

A super lovely shot with terrific clarity, color and depth, Dierbaar. I don't mean to spoil the mood, but that bit of cliff on the left looks like a big chunk of roast beef that had been sliced off.

a sweeping pov, and I really like the uppermost jut of land jutting out at pretty-much the halfway point up the topmost peak on the left. Like it's growing out of it somehow...Fine capture of the circuitous flow of a rocky shoreline, and how it juts in and out. And you have the deep contrasts with the beautiful deep water...A majestic capture, and somehow intimate as well. You're surrounded by beautiful nature, that's for sure...
