My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Nice shot. Let me tell you, those thing can cause some damage if you brush up against them by accident.

Beautiful lighting and capture! I don't think I've ever gotten close enough to experience the damage these can cause.... but from what others are saying.... ouch! :)

Wonderful texture, Tara! Fascinating critters, but I'll bet they're a pain to dock and boat owners.

A great capture of these barnacles, but oh they can be so sharp.

Interesting bernacles.

wow it's great to read the comments with all the caveats on barnacles' sharpness and the pain they cause. (Apparently it's a problem! I guess I'm lucky I've not been hit!) To me, your capture turns this pier into an edible candied delight. And the crop gives us just enough to let us taste the great variety of textures & hues of these things. And the chunk of deep blue on the right is a perfect foil, smooth, deep and very dark. A wonderful rich capture, and cropped just right.
