Description

This is about 6 to 8 feet over from where I was sitting to paint the palm trees in the backyard of where I was standing. I right next to a outdoor kitchen which is super to cook at. this is the best I can on the pov. but gives you a idea of how the backyard do look. the image is level as you see on the left all is straight and on the right it do lends a little... that is called lens distortion. if i had the 35mm fix lens the lens distortion would not have shown so bad, but on zooms it will show. most people do not note it or care or wonder how to correct it. Which I do not in photoshop at all.

Cool shot with lots of palms growing around the house, Jock. Does that yard get any sun with all of those trees? I spend a lot of time trying to correct or crop out the lens distortion in my photos, especially with buildings, columns, poles, etc.

this has a life of its own, and it feels like viewing the trees through a cavern of walls and pillars and beautiful winding walkways. You caught the trees in the distance, bathed in a beautiful light from the sun; while everything else around it is a maze of fine wall textures (plaster or stucco), overhanging leaves/fronds, and that beautiful walkway winding back & forth as it makes its way into the light. A very introspective and I think beautiful shot, Jock. I can see how views like this could inspire you to paint. You have a really intuitive eye for complexity in your photographs. and this is a perfect example. I really, really like this.

What a gorgeous shot! I love the composition. If the lean bothers you, select the entire image with the marquee tool (dancing ants). Click Edit, Transform, and Skew. Now you can grab a corner and pull it until the edge of the column looks straight. Simple fix, assuming it bothers you!
