Description
Rubi Sordida, Director of Undertakings at the Tranquil Repose Funeral Home on planet Necros, smiled what on most people would amount to a wry and disdainful smile. For Rubi Sordida however, the expression indicated a rare proximity to something resembling a positive emotional state.
The Undertakers had finished their redecorations and, she thought, their idea for relining the floor of the Despatch Chapel, was particularly tasteful.
But now, there were preparations to make; Invitations to be sent.
It would be a grand occasion and for the chapel, something of a deviation from its standard usage...
...then suddenly there it was. Bubbling up out of the Time Vortex, the first R.S.V.P.
The seven year old Dorothy Cowan shrieked with delight and spun a cartwheel of such exuberance that her startled Nannybot very nearly upended itself, in its increasingly, nearly exasperated attempts to keep her from coming to harm.

Many thanks to Rose, for her Goth outfit and once again also to SamTherapy for the Necros Daleks.

Wonderful image! Great details and an almost surreal feeling to it!

Many thanks Cimaira and thank you Rose... especially for supplying the main character's outfit... which ended up fundamentally inspiring the whole image. The Jaguar cat was introduced quite late on in putting this image together... but is now my favourite element... ...especially the way his paws, especially back paws, ended up working with the feet (and reflection) of Rubi Sordida and with the feet of the mirror.

This is so mind blowingly good. The render itself is superb but the composition and attention to detail are amazing. I agree with Cimaira about the almost surreal feeling to the pic; it's a glimpse into something busy and complex with no outside referent. In some ways it reminds me of the sort of stuff Nic Roeg does with cinema, where there's always something at odds with the main story going on in the background. This is very much like a close up on one of those backgrounds. David Lynch also springs to mind, more for the disparate elements seemingly placed out of context. And yes, the cat is brilliantly well done. The visual gag is worthy of Dali.
