Description
Been missing my vampires.... Akurei are evil spirits in Japanese folklore. I think they can either be ghosts or malevolent entities. I also wanted to try something a little 'manga-ish' without it being manga. While I like some of the stories, characters and ideas in manga, I'm not fond of the genre particularly. I suppose it's the cartoon aspect of it, as I've always been more into semi-realistic art.
Background and blood-splatters are from Apo. Figure rendered in PP 2010. Skin and eyes by moi.

OOooo, now who is this handsome (yet scary) devil? Love the burred edges -- give the right amount of movement, textures, hair and light movement are terrific! And I feel yah about Manga--Kaze no Stigma was the only one I liked--and the author died so now I am just out ab nd bummed--I tried to get into another series but dagnabit, I just couldn't warp my head around the others. Think I liked Kaze due to the character Kazuma who reminded me a bit of Edicus--he was a mixed bag--dark--not always trustworthy but likeable. Multidimensional--most character males in manga are overly testosterone filled and annoying, Kazuma had a great balance.

Fantastic action image! Great work on the blood splatter and the expression of this creepy character. If he had a great black sword he could almost double for Elric. Awesome background and effects. I hear ya on the manga thing too. A lot of good and creative stories, but the artwork was never really my thing. But, having said that, I've been watching more and more of it with Netflix. There are some out there that combine 3D CGI with regular animation and this has had mixed results. I think it is getting better, but time will tell. The current story I'm working crosses into that genre, but I'm not ready to reveal anything yet. Lots of writing done, but have to catch up on the artwork.

Oh my isn't that just delicious? Wowee, so great to see the full blown special effects that first attracted me to your images. The smoke makes him seem almost part there, like he is exploding out of the either, the dodgy light bits behind him (I know there is a word for that effect)help boost him from the scene and those blood splashes... Ron's splashes with layers of burn I am betting (I use them the same way for blood and mystical fire). So great the expressions.

OWWWWWWWWWWWW! Oy - the sight of blood makes me weak in the knees - especially when it's mine! :-D This is just fantastic, Ray! What a killer (pardon the pun) angle, and using an Apo flame for the blood splatter is a stroke of genius! Brilliant work, my friend!
