I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Looks awfully convincing to me, including the brackish water!

Love your image Bob, especially your rocks ! Superb composition !

As a scene, you can't beat this one.!! I think your problem is the title, it doesn't seem to convey 'Once a river'. Either that or the water may be too green. Either way it's a great AZ scene.

Really nailed it with the lights Bob, well done

Allot of of earthen colors in this makes it mice! Natural flow of the rock looks good, too, Bob!! Not sure wat you don't like, but it looks good to me!!!

Thank you all for visiting. I'm still thinking a better lighting setup could have yielded better results.

Well I for one see no issues with lighting when displayed in zoom....Though maybe because I can't help but get distracted by all the fantastic rocks and boulders and the textures you chose to give them is why I see no lighting issues....(smiles)...

I like it Bob...the colors and contrast are superb. Most of your images lack contrast and depth of color but...this one ROCKS!!! Way to go!!

Very beautiful composition, Bob!!!

As you already know Bob - a small change to the lighting can make a big difference! The best part is the ability to "tweek" it multiple times until you achieve the desired effect!Keep playing! :)

Those rocks are awesome! The light is a bit off indeed but I have no suggestion on how to fix that.

as always, another excellent render BOB

I agree with Mark- I find the afternoon lighting very realistic, and the rocks and vegetation seem very natural too. There is a small "mountain" in central Missouri where I sometimes go to take care of tower sites- this is easily lifted from a particular spot I know. Excellent work!

Very well done, Bob!!!

absolute photorealistic! ;o)
