Description
Greetings,
(All stand!)
Today in Stamford I found out, due to most of the streets being blocked off and half the Countries Police force being in Town, The Queen was making an official 'drive through' Stamford, as part of Her Jubilee Celebrations..
She was moving onto Burghley House to have Afternoon Tea with Lord and Lady Burghley..
I have honestly, never in all my years seen the Queen or any member of 'The Firm'.. And also, I have never seen so many people out in town to cheer someone..
I will just add that there were only 5 Policeman on the entire road I was on (that I could see), and she drove with her windows down.. Probably against the advise of her security people!
The Red Arrows flew over, and there was a 'Private' (not very!) airshow at Burghley for HRH.. The Blades, Hurricane and a Mk1 Spitfire! (photos of the Hurricane caught.. (Red Arrows to damn quick! The rest to far away..)
I know I moan, I know I rant, but this small moment made me actually feel good for a while.. Something good in this Country, God Save the Queen..
Taken outside Brownes Hospital, Stamford less than two hours ago, 13/6/12..
The Lady next to Her is Her Lady In Waiting..

What a splendid capture of the Queen you managed to get Rob, she is looking very happy here. Like you I'd be a bit concerned about her driving by with the windows down.

This is a fantastic shot of Her Majesty Rob and she was looking your way, what a bonus. Welldone my friend. She came to my family and me during a walabout for her 25th jubilee and spoke to us - a thrill of a lifetime. PS. To answer your question about macro - I don't possess a macro lens!

Well done Rob. I got to see General MacArthur, his wife and son this close when I was ten years old but of course didn't have a camera:)

Once they get their bus pass there's no stopping them, running about all over the place :-) Seriously...I know what you mean about that 'feeling', she's been to Merseyside so often she has a 'Scouse Passport' and it's always a joy to see her. I think 2121 makes a good point, it's not the security you see, it's the ones you don't see that count.... Excellent capture ( I'll refrain from saying 'shot' :-) it'll be interesting to see if the 'papps' got one this good....The Queen and a Hurricane in one day...that's about as 'Great British' as you'll ever get....

Stellar and superb in this capture of the Queen as she passes by in the royal auto, waving to the crowds, Rob. Actually, I was much closer then this to the Queen and Prince Philip when they came to visit our Rockwell Shuttle Orbiter aerospace facility in Downey, California while I was working there in the mid 1980s. They were strolling slowly through the aisles, nodding their hellos to us employees. She was slimmer and had dark hair then. There will always be an England.

Dang, Rob! You got a fantastic photo of Her Majesty! She looks great, and seems to be waving right at you, mate! You were definitely in the right place at the right time! Long Live The Queen!

Great capture Rob. i saw the queen twicee. Once in may 1978 in Bickingham Palace and the last time in 1998 when she left Buckingham Palace via a side gate in a small car. Some people had lined the street, but i was too slow to take a picture since I didn't expect her to be in a small, unassuming car!

Oh, my! Another beautiful and excellent photo. Lucky you! This is better than any paparazzi could do! And she looks so natural and relaxed. I admire her - out to tour the kingdom at her age, showing interest in her subjects (unlike most politicians!). I feel the Queen should have more to say than a lot of the PC MPs in Parliament! God save (and bless) the Queen! And the UK, too! Thanks a LOT for posting this. :-)

Very nice capture. She still looks good.

Well, I am happy to see that at least one RR member got a shot of her. I missed my chance in 1959 as I had no camera, but she was about 15 feet away from me and quite captivating for a young lad as I was then. She still does have my respect..a point of stability in this ever changing, and not always for the better, world!
