------------- Tales of the Raptors – The White Witch

The shadowed figure stood in the back of the chamber. Anyone could tell she was female, but none could see much more than that. Trieltyr knew what she was, but more than that, she knew who the shadowed figure served. As with all things surrounding Trieltyr and the one called Yhazzingur, nothing was what it seemed.

“They have fallen into the trap. Things have progressed better than we could have foreseen.”

The shadowed figure smiled in the darkness.

“Which trap?”

Trieltyr snickered to herself. The duplicity of the whole affair made her giggle.

“The Night Raptors, Yhaz. That trap.”

“Oh, of course. How silly of me.”

“Shall we eliminate them now?”

Yhazzingur stepped up, but stopped before moving out of shadow. She receded from the dim candlelight and stood pondering her sister’s question.

“You know better than that. That has never been the plan. You wish them dead now?”

Trieltyr sneered, “Apologies, Yhaz. I didn’t expect Gollarak’s loss to affect me as it has. I shall miss him. Does that sound weak?”

“No, no, dear. I would not love you as I do if you did not feel something for the loss of one so useful. Be assured. He may be dead, but his task has only yet begun.”

Trieltyr sniffed. There were no tears. She couldn’t afford tears. Gollarak’s path had been laid out for months. In fact, she was quite sure his ultimate fate had been decided long before his birth. Such was the case with the Mord Elves. The only thing she didn’t know about his future was what form he would now take. She knew precisely what would become of the priestess, Jhandiira.

“Will there be anything else, Yhaz?”

The shadowy form turned, her large hood still covering her head. Nothing was visible within the cloak but darkness.

“I think you’ve done enough. You secured the treasures?”

“Yes, as instructed.”

“Then no. You may return to Mother. Discuss our success here. She probably knows everything already, but in case she does not, know that the Isle is ready for the Raptor’s assault. The Drow and the Beholders will put on a good show.”

Trieltyr smiled a predatory smile.

“Indeed, sister. I almost hate to miss it.”
