Description

They'd had the first meeting with the Council, and Katherine had told them all she knew about the man and his family that they suspected being behind Jihada. Martyn and Lex said they would go through their databases (which actually meant any database they needed to go through) and see what information they could find. A second meeting was called a few days later - this time only with Katherine, Ramon, Lex and Martyn. They sat and chatted for awhile, drinking wine. Finally Martyn hung his head and sighed. "I suppose we should get to the business at hand here." He seemed apologetic as he looked up at her and said, "That information you gave us led nowhere. We found absolutely nothing on this man or his father. Where did you get your information Lisbet?" Katherine started at the sound of her old name. "Nothing??" Lex shook his head. "C'est impossible!" Her hands flailed in the air for a moment and then she fell back, sliding down in the seat. Her mind was racing. "Jason. My camera man - he was the one who got the information...most of it. I found some on my own. Did they wipe their own info perhaps?" "No. It was never there. I do backups each week of certain international databases," Lex explained. "One's better left unnamed and unknown to any but myself and Martyn. I checked them all. Nothing." "Then why would they blow up the plane and...and...," Katherine ran her hands through her hair. "Je ne comprende pas!" She looked at Ramon. He was looking at Martyn as if to say, "Don't be so hard on her." Or so she thought. "What? What could this mean?" Martyn asked. "You are SURE of your resources and your information? You do not doubt yourself, in any way regarding what you told us?" "Non! I may doubt myself over many things, but not my job. Not my job. I did not become an investigative reporter in that place because I was sloppy or incompetent! Non!" she answered firmly. "I did everything as I was supposed to do it. I do not doubt." A strange smile curled at the corners of Martyn's lips and he cast a glance at Ramon. "That is what we want to hear from you. Lisbet...you must go with Ramon now, to see The Peacock Angel. The Peacock Angel will explain everything to you." "Why do you keep calling me Lisbet? I used to be Lisbet, but now I am Katherine." "I just wanted to make sure you still remembered who you were." ***** Finally.... :) What the heck is going on here? Guess we'll find out! One light for the whole thing. Otherwise everything kept getting blown out. Background by me. All morphs by me, etc, etc. Very minor post work. Thank you for being patient dear friends, and for your comments and favs. Thanks for just looking too, but don't be shy. I only bite on Mondays. Sometimes. My goodness, it's Friday already! Have a good one and hope your weekend is fabulous :) Ray

Absolutely superb, Ray! The image is exquisite, and is the perfect illustration for the story. And yet it could easily stand on it's own, inviting the viewer to create thier own story from it. Brilliant! I'm theorizing..... My first suspicion would be the cameraman, Jason. An insider feeding her false information... But when she got a little too close, his 'luggage' was switched or sabatoged by other Jihada operatives. Or, he was quite simply ordered to blow hiself up and the plane along with him. Suicide bombers are quite common with these fantatical groups, as we've seen many times.

A most excellent table scene. The characters really look engaged, especially Ramon. Great lighting and excellent and clear render. Everything came out beautiful. You created a very nice scene/environment for the characters too.

Great to see the story pick up again. I looked back at the peacock angel image and remember that it was a most striking creature. I hope you can pick it up now that you have developed some of the character profiles that you needed. I am away in New York for a week so I will not be able to follow for a while.
