Description
Arthur Conan Doyle's 1912 adventure novel is generally seen as the progenitor of this trope. However hard on his heels came Edgar Rice Borroughs and his Caprona series- The Land that Time Fogot and The People that Time Forgot. The latter I read as a kid and always remember this scene of a sea plane encountering a pterodactyl somewhere in the clouds above Caprona.
I used Lucien Lilippe's bryce plane and Dinoraul's Quetzalcoatlus for this scene. Rendered in bryce 7 and postwork in Adobe Image Ready.

Great inspirations and a fine render with that strange land atmosphere. Very cool to look at and imagine.
