Description

I've been trying to get a shot of one of these birds for a very long time. It is a Least Bittern, one of the smallest heron species in the world, and the smallest Heron species in North America. The total length of this tiny bittern can measure from 28 to 36 cm (11 to 14 in). Body mass is from 51 to 102 g (1.8 to 3.6 oz). They are a very secretive bird. I was fortunate to spot this one walking through some reeds.

Nice series of photos! I believe this is the bird that has that kind of metallic clinking sound once in a while. If so, it is one I have tried to photograph many times and still have yet to even see him.
