Absolutely! Open that gate. Where is the sweetness of life if we cannot live a little dangerously? Seriously, I think having the gate just partly open would improve the overall picture by adding some depth. It is kinda flat as is. Finally, though this is purely personal taste, I would darken the picture some. It is too bright.
