Description
'When the Dove of Dalriata, upon the last stop of his self imposed or 'white' exile, stepped out of his corackeel onto the blessed sands of the Sacred Isle, he felt immediately at home. On this wondrous isle, from which his missionary work would radiate for nigh on forty years, he and his Companions, thought heavenly the green heathered sward, flower rich tussocks, lichen clothed rocks,
bounding mountain streams, rolling hills, seabirds, frolicking sea otters, seals and bird inhabited cliffs which met their widened eyes.
The many, varied standing stones ( most with even greater detail depicted on them, than those to be found, more worn down and defaced in the Ould Land ) marked what would be for the High King's great grandson a truly "Sacred Isle". Many would be the kings crowned, married and buried in the Abbey and settlement built on that isle. For many visitors they too felt that they had come home. Some never left ..
Many the monks who attended the Scriptorium of the Isles, fashioning sacred books rich in calligraphy and illumination, spreading word of The Blessed Way far away among the peoples of the Medean Continent; a huge, sprawling land mass which which had fallen in Dark TImes, after being overrun by the hordes without, and treacherous enemies within the Great Empire. Tales could be told, and many were handed down, retold through many generations, without change, or charge, by the Bardai, wandering monks of the Dove.'
NICCAHAN's CHRONICLES OF THE ISLE OF THE DOVE, Daerkpuhle Free Press.
Another snapshot of Dalriatan History, captured in a composition in Vue 10 Complete. Background terrain was generated in GeoControl 2, and shows a winter scene. The foreground has the perpetual summer look of the Sacred Isle, even in
the depths of winter. Sheltered from the rigours of the outer isle weather.
Almost at the end of one phase of my working life, and ready and eager to set out on the new challenge of catechesis, I feel a wee bit like the Sainted Dove - about to start a new, possibly daunting venture. For those of you starting anew
in your lives, I offer my prayers and may God bless all of you in your ventures too.
Goodnight, John.

Amazing rendering. I love the remarkable contrast of winter beyond set against summer on the island. So close together physically one could simply cross between two distinct worlds which have briefly brushed against each other.

A very serene and peaceful landscape and I do like the composition with the sturdy rock formation in the foreground ... your overall design gives the impression of half Winter and half Summer! BB
