also known as blazing star, gay feather and other names. this is one of my favourite plants and bees and butterflys love it as you can see this bee is covered in pollen and i only noticed the honey bee behind it. this plant was popular with native americans. supposedly they fed the bulbs of the plant to horses to increase their endurance and human uses as a diuretic, stimulant, diaphoretic and emmenagogue. tea made from the leaves was used to treat snakebites and help stomach aches... thanks for viewing and comments welcome...happy friday chills and thrills
