Description
Act I - The Fallen Goddess - Episode 6
April sits on the edge of the cliff, watching the cave for any sign of movement.
She spotted it about an hour ago, just a few metres above a slowly-moving river. The crystal blue water is oh so tempting, and her throat is oh so parched, but she doesn't dare move down the steep, rocky slope until she's sure the cave is empty. She is unarmed, unarmoured, and (as far as she can remember) unskilled in combat. To risk any confrontation now would be suicide.
The baking sun rises over the Sarodor wasteland, and still there is no movement in or out of the cave. Finally, after another hour has passed, she makes her way down into the ravine. She gulps handful after handful of the cool, clear water. No drink has ever tasted so good. Or at least...not that she can remember.
Her memory is still agonisingly empty of memories beyond waking up in the Temple cell a few hours ago. She's sure her name is April, but beyond that, there is nothing. She tries to bring up memories of her past. Her family. Her home. Anything. But her memory is a pitch black void, with only occasional flashes of a strange, blood-red sky.
As time goes on, she becomes more and more certain that she will never remember.
And she also becomes more weary. She stands tentatively at the mouth of the cave, searching for any sign of life or movement. But aside from a few small animal bones on the floor of the cave, gnawed and ancient, there is nothing. The cave is vacant.
Relieved, and with her eyelids already falling, she steps inside the cave and finds a place to rest. She falls asleep almost immediately.
She never notices the two figures watching her from the cliff-top high above.
