Description

Crater Lake NP is truly a weather maker. Even in a low snow year this area is still difficult to access. The entire east side was closed this past week for snow removal. Which meant no ferry rides on the lake. Have tried to hike the crater on Wizard Island for about 15 years now, and have been foiled by high wind, blizzards in July and even one summer the forest fires in the area filled the crater with so much smoke they were asking folks to leave the park. This last trip was the tenth time of my trying, I have not given up yet! When stitching these 4 images together the end result was 12,000 pixels in width, so it has been reduced drastically to make Rendo's requirements. Do enjoy some of the details in full view, I personally find the skyline outside the park to the Southeast most inspiring. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2342288.jpg

This view of the park is truly amazing and beautiful Dana, well done to you for putting it together and those who don't zoom will have missed a real bonus.

Great panorama that definitely needs a zoom to appreciate. I live less than two hours from Crater Lake, yet have only visited it twice - partly because of the difficult weather conditions you mentioned...

Hello Neighbor, If you look further back in my gallery when I was doing mostly photos you will see some shots of crater lake as well as waterfalls along the North Umpqua. It's a rare treat to see Crater Lake in a snow shot. Nice work.
